Friendship is harder than adults remember.

Support for children and teens navigating friendships, exclusion, peer pressure, and finding where they belong.

Being left out of a group chat can hurt as much as anything an adult goes through. Whether your child is being excluded, struggling to read social cues, going along with things to stay included, or coming home quiet after another hard day — social pain is real pain, and it shapes how a young person sees themselves.

In therapy, we work on the practical side — reading situations, starting and repairing friendships, handling pressure and saying no — and the deeper side: rebuilding the self-worth that being excluded chips away at. Parents get guidance too, including when to step in and when to hold back.

As a person-centered therapist, I believe you are the expert of your own life. My role is not to hand down answers or tell you who to be — it is to offer a genuine, accepting, non-judgmental relationship where you feel safe enough to be fully honest with yourself. You set the direction and the pace; evidence-based tools are offered when they serve you, never imposed.

A Moment of Reflection

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Does your child come home from school quiet or upset most days?
  • Do they change who they are depending on who they're with?
  • Are they being left out, teased, or targeted online?
  • Do they want friends but not know how to start?
  • Do they say 'I'm fine' when clearly something happened?

If you found yourself nodding along, that is not a diagnosis — it is information. You don't need the right words or a clear goal to begin. A safe, non-judgmental space is waiting for you to think out loud — and you decide what we explore, and how fast we go.
