Some things are easier to build than to say.

A quiet, creative way to express what words can't quite reach — for children, teens, and adults.

A tray of sand and a shelf of small figures: people, animals, buildings, bridges, fences, objects both ordinary and strange. You choose what belongs in the tray and arrange it however you like. There is no right arrangement, no artistic skill required, and no interpretation imposed on you afterward.

This works because it bypasses the part of us that explains, edits, and keeps things tidy. People who have talked around something for years often find it appears in the tray within minutes. It is especially useful for trauma, grief, and anything that feels too large or too tangled for a sentence — and for children who freeze under direct questions.

As a person-centered therapist, I believe you are the expert of your own life. My role is not to hand down answers or tell you who to be — it is to offer a genuine, accepting, non-judgmental relationship where you feel safe enough to be fully honest with yourself. You set the direction and the pace; evidence-based tools are offered when they serve you, never imposed.

A Moment of Reflection

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Do you talk around something without ever quite reaching it?
  • Does your child go quiet when asked direct questions?
  • Do words feel too small for what you've been through?
  • Have you tried talk therapy and felt stuck at the same place?
  • Would it be easier to show it than to explain it?

If you found yourself nodding along, that is not a diagnosis — it is information. You don't need the right words or a clear goal to begin. A safe, non-judgmental space is waiting for you to think out loud — and you decide what we explore, and how fast we go.

How This Helps

What you can expect.

No words required

You can build in silence. Meaning can come later, or not at all.

Nothing to get right

This isn't art and it isn't a test. Whatever you make is the correct answer.

You hold the meaning

Your tray is never analyzed at you. If it means something, you're the one who says so.
